Samantha, Sami, Mantha, and Sami-Lou... I almost don't know where to start with this girl. She is every bit a girl, stubborn as can be, sweet when she wants, and hilarious most of the time. She can wrestle with Andy one minute and be marching around with her dolly, wearing high heels, and shush-ing everyone the next.
Lewis leaves early for meeting on Sunday mornings. I usually wake the kids up singing, "I always have a happy feeling when I go to church..." They hate it. Last Sunday, I was turning on lights and singing in my loudest voice the second time through, and I left out the last word- "I always have a happy feeling when I go to _______" - to see if the littles were awake enough to finish the line. Well, Sami sat up and glared at me and said "SLEEP!" Andy and I just looked at each other and totally cracked up! Sami, our sweet thing, sat up again and yelled "It's NOT FUNNY," trying not to smile.
She's started competing for my attention with Andy. "It's MY MAMA"- they both yell while each trying to get the better part of my lap. Usually this happens in Sacrament Meeting. Lewis got put in the Bishopric, so he just gets to smile at me from the stand while Andy is LITERALLY crawling over my shoulder and around my back with Samantha on my lap getting cozy, taking up both of my legs so that there's no more room for Andy when he gets back around to the other side. I think many families have become more active in Sacrament Meeting because of the "Andy and Samantha Show" that goes on for the entire 70 minutes. {SIGH}
Samantha's had NOTHING to do with potty-training until last week. Yup- one week before we go on a 30 hour journey to the other side of the world. Not the ideal time to have a rookie in panties. I might have to sedate her to get her to wear her Pull-Ups, she much prefers the "Dora Mermaid" panties. I really don't feel like dealing with pee-pee pants on the plane- or as we're running for a connecting flight or whatever, although the girl does seem to have a bladder of steel... I'll keep you posted on how that goes.
It has surprised me how much our little dolly loves to sing. All of the songs from "Barbie's Princess and the Pauper" are her favorite- along with the "Baby Alive- a Baby So Real" jingle from the commercial on TV-- sung while spinning her ribbons and shaking out her stringy hair. She pulls out any "hair-do" I try- and leaves her bows in only until she remembers that they are there. I feel like putting a sign on her that says: "Don't mention the bow or she'll pull it off"!
She changes her clothes many times a day. She prefers dresses or pink pants, and loves to look at herself. I catch her looking at her reflection in the fridge and the oven, as she casually walks by slow-ly, smiling all the while. She loves my lip-gloss and powder and anything girl-ie!
She says the sweetest prayers (I think she and Andy are secretly dueling to see who can say the longest prayer) and truly brings happiness (and laughter!) to us each day.

Why oh why do we have to live so far away!?! Sami just cracks me up -- wish we were closer to laugh with you! Loved the whole blog -- I will be checking back *daily* for updates -- don't forget me!! :)
Emily--I loved your cute card. Laney pointed to Sami and said "That me Mommy?" Everytime I read what you write about her I think they must be kindred spirits! I'm so excited for your trip. I miss you! Merry Christmas!
Darling Sami girl! I hate that Baby Alive song- Ella sings it all the time too! :)
